IPL

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. The IPL technique uses a flash lamp that gives a powerful flash light. The light is absorbed by the pigment of the hairs and converted into heat. The heat damages the hair follicle. This treatment works as long as a hair is in the growth phase. Because only then is the hair root sensitive to the flash light.

Because part of the hair present is always in the growth phase, several treatments are always necessary. The number of treatments varies from person to person.

Hair removal by means of an IPL treatment is most effective when the hair contains a lot of pigment. Treatment of blond, red or gray hair is not effective because of the lack of pigment in these hairs. The IPL hair removal works best on fair skin with dark hair. Depilation of dark skin is best done with a laser treatment.
